NINE YEARS UNDER is a darkly funny coming-of-age story about Sheri Booker’s nine years, beginning when she was fifteen years old, working in a black funeral home in Baltimore.

It offers a glimpse into the secret world of the funeral industry and a look at an urban funeral culture where funeral-goers wear photo-screened memorial t-shirts to memorialize their loved ones.

Sheri Booker is a writer, poet, spoken word artist, photographer, and teacher. She is the author of the poetry book, One Woman, One Hustle, and writes a blog for Color Me Talk (http://colormetalk.com/blog) and a style column for examiner.com.
