MY WORDS

Grant Snider

A little girl looks back on her very first word (and many others) in this endearing and clever picture book ode to language acquisition from Grant Snider, the brilliant creator of Incidental Comics.
Kids love to look back and reminisce about themselves - even when they're only four. In My Words, you'll meet a little girl who exclaims: I LOVE WORDS! But then realizes that not too long ago, she was a baby and didn't have the ability to speak. What was that like? With that question in mind, Ava goes back and visits wonderful moments of her own word-wonders. From babbling with her parents and learning words for everything around her, to hilarious examples of using the wrong word, Grant Snider's light touch pulls at the heartstrings while giving the youngest word lovers an opportunity to see how it was before they could speak.

Grant Snider began drawing and writing before he knew what he was doing, and soon it was too late to stop. He is the author of the picture book What Color is Night? and the creator The Shape of Ideas, which is a collection of his work from "Incidental Comics." His work has appeared in the New York Times, the New Yorker, and The Best American Comics. Grant lives in Wichita, Kansas with his wife, daughter, and three sons, where he also practices orthodontics.
