Volcanologist, natural hazards expert, Twitter sensation, and founder of Blueprint Earth Jess Phoenix has dedicated her career to making scientific exploration accessible to as many people as possible.

That work has taken her to jungles and glaciers across the globe as well as to university classrooms and Discovery Channel studios; she's found herself at glittering cocktail parties in Manhattan's elite Explorers Club and fixing a flat tire on the side of the world's largest volcano with a ballpoint pen, bubblegum, and duct tape. MS. ADVENTURE is the story of how she earned acceptance into the extraordinary world of explorationand how her curiosity shoved her headlong into deep-sea submersibles, congressional races, and numerous pairs of Caterpillar work boots in the quest to open up the birthright of exploration and science to every human. Jess Phoenix is a volcanologist, host of the Catastrophe! podcast, and co-founder of environmental scientific research organization Blueprint Earth. She also ran for United States Congress against a climate science denier. Her expertise is in lava flows and natural hazards, with an emphasis on volcanic hazards. Her work has taken her to six continents, where she has organized and led over 25 scientific research expeditions. She has been chased by narco-traffickers in Mexico, dodged armed thieves in remote Peru, raced horses across Mongolia, worked on the world's largest volcano in Hawaii, piloted the Jason2 submersible on an undersea volcano, and explored deep in the Australian Outback. Jess is a Fellow in The Explorers Club and the Royal Geographical Society, a featured scientist on the Discovery and Science Channels, an invited TEDx speaker, and she has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, in Wired, Fast Company, on National Public Radio, on CNN, NBC, and the BBC. She was recently invited to serve on the Geological Society of America's Geosciences and Public Policy Committee to work directly with the United States federal government.
