MORTUARY GIRL
What happens when the man you fall in love with is dead?
KAT is nearly 30 and has never been in love. This might have something to do with the fact that she's an outspoken Goth, has two charmingly crazy parents and works in an Edinburgh morgue. Her two best friends are SID a gay pathologist and HAYLEY an eyes on stalks' beautiful partner in a law firm.
One morning she hears a mysterious banging from one of the drawers in the morgue and opens it to discover her first living corpse NATHAN De LAND. I opened the drawer and peered down at the pale and bruised but incredibly cute face staring up at me. It blinked its bright blue eyes and immediately I was smitten. It had finally happened I'd fallen for a corpse.'
From then on nothing will ever be the same again as she embarks upon a bit twitching' emotional roller-coaster few months, affecting not just Kat but all those around her. The search for true love rarely runs smoothly, but when your boyfriend is an unhappily married ex-corpse with 3 kids, the ride is likely to be more bumpy than usual.
DAVID ATKINSON was born and grew up in Glasgow, which sounds like a very settled, normal existence but in fact before he was ten he'd moved house eleven times and attended four different primary schools which made making friends and remembering the way home a little tricky. During his student days he worked as a singing telegram' and a door to door salesman and looking back he'd have probably had more success combining the two. After graduating with a business studies degree he worked in a hospital theatre for a time before discovering the other kind of theatre where he co-wrote and starred in a number of amateur productions.
He currently lives in Edinburgh and has two previously published novels. His debut Love Byte' was shortlisted for the Romantic Comedy of the Year by the Romantic Novelists Association. (RoNA's)
