MINOTAUR
MINOTAUR is a thrilling reinterpretation of the classic Minotaur myth. In it, Ovid, drunken Roman poet to the stars, arrives on Crete looking to write an epic adventure about Greek hero Theseus.
By chance, or perhaps design, he meets Asterion who promises to reveal what really happened in the labyrinth. From his boyhood on Crete under the cruel hand of his stepfather, Minos, his adventures with his friend Theseus and his growing love for the beautiful Phaedra, Asterion slowly reveals a story too incredible to be real that he is actually the terrifying Minotaur of myth we all know. Struggling under the weight of thousand-year-old memories, the Minotaur spins a tale like no other, and Ovid, may finally be on to the greatest story he has ever told. Phillip W. Simpson is the author of many novels, chapter books and other stories for children. His publishers include Macmillan, Penguin, Pearson, Cengage, Raintree and Oxford University Press. His first young adult novel, Rapture (Rapture Trilogy #1), was shortlisted for the Sir Julius Vogel Awards for best Youth novel in 2012. Simpson is also a teacher with a vast knowledge of ancient history. He has a BA in Ancient History and Archaeology, his Masters (Hons) in Archaeology from the University of Auckland and a Post Grad diploma in Museum Studies, and has partially completed his doctorate in Archaeology.
