LUCY AND THE MAGIC RAINBOW LOOM

This series for 6-10 year-olds will follow the adventures of a little girl living in London who accidentally discovers a magic Rainbow Loom that gives her access to an Oz-like land of wonders. But she also encounters danger and obstacles that she can overcome only by making things with her Rainbow Loom.
I. Lucy is a little girl living in a historic townhome in London. She finds an intriguing package on her doorstep addressed to a strange name. Though she knows the package does not belong to her, she sneaks away to open it. As she pulls out a Rainbow Loom—unlike anything she has ever seen before—her mother finds her. Lucy’s mother scolds her for opening mail that was not addressed to her, confiscates the Rainbow Loom, and sends her to her attic room as a punishment. II. After what feels like an eternity, Lucy finds a way to retrieve the loom. She works away, learning the loom and weaving the most beautiful bracelet. As she finishes the bracelet, the loom becomes heavier and heavier. Slowly, the loom draws her over to the corner of her attic room, where there is an old door in the eaves. On contact with the loom, the lock clicks and the door creaks open, revealing a mysterious hallway that she never knew existed. III. Lucy passes the threshold and enters into an amazing world. IV. Lucy travels through the mysterious place, being drawn by the pull of the powerful loom. She comes across unimaginable and beautiful creatures, castles and vast, colorful landscapes. V. Lucy encounters several challenges that she can only overcome with her loom. As a beginner, Lucy’s quest is very difficult, until she learns new techniques with the help of new and quirky friends she meets along the way. a. Crossing a waterfall, she must build a bridge b. Encountering a giant beast, she weaves a toy to distract him c. Helping a wounded fairy, she makes wings d. Entering a castle, she helps the servants e. Reaching the top tower of the castle, she finds an incredible surprise that is met with a challenge. VI. Her challenge reveals that she misses home and her mother. She uses her loom and her learned craft to outwit the creator of this most difficult obstacle. VII. Having triumphed, Lucy makes it home and reunites with her mother. VIII. Feeling happy and accomplished, Lucy puts the loom away. For now!
