LOCAL GIRL SWEPT AWAY
Jackie Silva's best friend Lorna, a fearless daredevil, convinces her and their other friends Lucas and Finn (Lorna's boyfriend) to walk out on the breakwater in Provincetown, Massachusetts, in the middle of a raging storm. In the noisy darkness, they soon realize Lorna isn't with them anymore. They watch helplessly as her white jacket is pulled out into the ocean.
In the months that follow, the community grieves and struggles to move on. Finn becomes withdrawn and sullen, Lucas leaves for an out-of-state summer job, and Lorna's alcoholic mother seems increasingly out of control. Jackie dreams of applying to art school next spring (against her parents' wishes), but for now, she just needs to survive the summer. Her job at a local gallery is a welcome distraction - but so is Cooper, her thirty-year-old co-worker.
When Lucas returns in the fall with a startling confession, the circumstances of Lorna's death are thrown into doubt - and with every new betrayal that comes to light, Jackie must decide who she can really trust and confront her fears about leaving the only life she has known.
