darkly humorous illustrated essays expanding upon her popular social media dispatches, lampooning modern femaleidentity in the social media age.

Based on her popular Instagram account @jooleeloren, this collection of witty, four-color illustrated essays center around “slightly antisocial heroines” (Refinery29), who grapple with the absurdity of life in the social media era, where the line between becoming a total "Girlboss" and a twenty-first century American Psycho is razor thin. Houts’s unique illustrations reveal the hilarious truth: there is a dark squiggly weird creature inside every woman, even you.

Julie Houts, otherwise known as Jooleeloren (@jooleeloren), is an illustrator and womenswear designer at J.Crew. Shewas raised in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and St. Louis, Missouri, before studying at The School of the Art Institute ofChicago and Parsons School of Design in NYC. Her work has been featured in Vogue, Man Repeller, Stylebop, TheHuffington Post, and Refinery29. Houts lives in Brooklyn.
