He speaks frankly about race, the power of education, and the nature of equality—a rallying call delivered in energizing and eloquent spoken word. His speech has had over 13 million hits and counting, has been praised by Hillary Clinton and Justin Timberlake, and Donovan has been interviewed or his speech has been featured on: CNN twice, NPR, BBC, GMA, Boston Globe, Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, and around the world including in news outlets in the UK, Germany, Norway, Australia, India, and South Africa.
Donovan hopes that this will be the first of many books, and he’d want to write books that continue to inspire and uplift readers. In the fall, Donovan will begin a PhD in Education Leadership at the University of North Carolina in Greensboro. He’s studying the emotional intelligence and the social and cultural foundation needed to help minorities overcome the college dropout rate; he cares and relates to these issues, as he had struggled with them himself in his early college years.
