Today cars ‘Made in Germany’ are among the most well-known German products on the

world market. However at the end of World War II the German car industry was virtually

destroyed. Companies such as Volkswagen, BMW and Mercedes Benz all suffered a great

deal. Rebuilding with concentration processes began in the West, which meant the end of many small firms. New assembly and component plants were erected by surviving companies and new firms like Audi, which was formed as a result of a merger of firms like DKW, NSU and Horch, were founded.

With the growth of the car firms numerous manufacturers began to surpass each other with their designs and technical improvements which finally lead to a fascinating model variety on the German car market. Constructions such as the remarkable Messerschmitt cabin scooter or the original BMW Isetta, the Porsche 911 or the S-Class of Mercedes Benz all left their optical as well as their technical mark on German roads.

This title is a contemporary document, a collection of the most beautiful German cars produced after 1945, with photographs and technical details - not to be missed in anybody’s library.
