LE NOSTRE ORE CONTATE

Marco Amerighi

Four teenagers fighting with a world they don't belong to any more, in a village lost in the woods of Tuscany. A deeply moving and surprising debut novel.
Sauro Terra is a man without past. After years of pain, he finally succeeds in leaving Badiascarna behind, the small village in the Tuscan woods where he grew up. He has forgotten the Doctor, Momo and Il Trifo, the members of the first - his first! - punk band of their region. He has forgotten Bea, his first love. But, above all, he has managed to forget his friend's blood-soaked body, the burning abattoir, the interrogatories by the Police, and his father kicking him out of his house without reason. One day, his mother calls him. She begs him to go back home because his father - Rino - has disappeared. Rino is affected by Asbestosis, because of the asbestos powder he has been inhaling all those years at work. He is amnesiac and faints often, and he could die out of a sudden, lost somewhere. Reluctantly, Sauro leaves for Badiascarna. He knows that this journey is his last chance to meet again Bea and his band, and to finally understand the reasons of his father's decision a long time ago. A literary prose that reminds of Donna Tartt's The Secret History.

Our numbered hours is a powerful novel, that I really loved, and Amerighi is an extremely talented writer.

"An astonishingly beautiful book. I hadn't been so moved since Ammaniti's Ti prendo e ti porto via."
