LE DÉBUT DES PETITS ÉTINCELLES
Sparking Back to Life
Is it possible to start all over again after putting your life on hold for too long?
DESCRIPTION
When life gives you a sign, you have to open your eyes. When that sign is staring you in the face, you have to follow it. When Mathieu tells Roxane one morning that he's packing his bags and walking out on her, Roxane makes the surprising decision to leave her small town and build a life for herself and their teenage daughter in Montreal. But against all odds, the young woman chooses to stay and live with her dad instead. Finding herself on her own again is far from easy, though, as Roxane must learn to live in a completely different world to the one she grew up in and embrace a desire to open up to others, to travel and to live differently. But more than anything else, she must get to know herself and find her way again.
EXCERPT
A tidal wave of emotions is building in my belly, pushing away the sadness that took over my body this morning. The morning when, my coffee and I, we were on the doorstep, ready to go to work. The teenager was already on the bus on his way to school, and Mathieu stood in my way, right there in front of me, with that end-of-the-world look on his face. His blue eyes were thunder grey. I thought he was going to tell me someone had died. But no, he wanted to tell me our love was dead. Kaput. Welcome to the funeral for our life as a couple.
