LAY DOWN YOUR WEARY TUNE
Set against a folk Americana aesthetic, LAY DOWN YOUR WEARY TUNE is an emotionally charged exploration of myth-making, desire, and regret.
Despite achieving fame as a folk icon in the 1960's, Eli Page is a riddle wrapped in a myth, who has spent the last twenty years living as a recluse. His past is shrouded in gossip and half-truths and no one knows who he is behind the act. Jack Wyeth, a budding writer charged with ghostwriting the musician's memoirs, joins Eli in a small town on the border of New York and Vermont, only to learn that the ageing musician's mind is failing. Jack scrambles to make sense of Eli's mysterious correspondence and tragic events hinted at by the small town's gossipy residents, and is simultaneously forced to confront secrets from his own muddled past. Ultimately, a story of redemption, LAY DOWN YOUR WEARY TUNE is a compelling look at the power of personal mythologies, and the painful ways that truth can break them. W.B. Belcher grew up in western Massachusetts and earned a MFA from Goddard College. He lives in upstate New York with his wife and two kids. LAY DOWN YOUR WEARY TUNE is his first novel.
