LAST BUS TO COFFEEVILLE
Nancy Skidmore has Alzheimer's and Eugene Chaney III has a purpose in life - to end hers.
Like FORREST GUMP and THE 100-YEAR-OLD MAN WHO CLIMBED OUT GHE WINDOW AND DISAPPEARED, this is a funny story about sad things, a chronicle of lives that have jumped th tracks, a tale of endings and new beginnings.
Eugene kidnaps Nancy from a nursing home with the help of Bob Crenshaw, a man officially dead for forty years, and Jack Guravitch, a weatherman in the throes of a mid-life crisis. They drive to Coffeville in a stolen tour bus once owned by Paul McCartney, soon joined by a young orphan boy named Eric searching for this only surviving family member - an exotic dancer named Susan. Their profound discoveries about friendship, love and family leave you laughing through tears.
Last Bus to Coffeeville is an entertaining and poignant road story centred around the strange histories of a group of unconventional individuals, who come together serendipitously to help fulfil the wishes of a woman suffering from dementia. Set in the USA and covering historical events both significant and amusingly inconsequential, the book offers the reader a classic road trip narrative populated by a cast of engaging characters.
Ion Mills, Director of Publishing and founder of Oldcastle Books said:
“When we read this manuscript it was one of those eureka moments. We are extremely excited about this author. “Last Bus to Coffeeville“ is absolutely hilarious; quirky, touching, the characters are unforgettable and it’s a damned good story too. It is sure to be our biggest book of 2014. We plan on publishing Last Bus to Coffeeville in Spring 2014, and subsequent titles in 2015 and 2016. The book is likely to appeal to fans of Rachel Joyce’s novel The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry and the runaway success, The-Hundred-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out of the Window and Disappeared by Jonas Jonasson."
