LAP CAT

Joren Cull

For fans of The Book Hog and The Leaf Thief comes a zany, fun picture book about a cat on a mission to find the perfect lap.
Lap Cat is on a quest to find the warmest, softest, most comfortable lap around Mellsville. They search high and low, in parks and diners, leaving a path of destruction in their wake. With everyone in town mad at their actions, will Lap Cat be able to see past their own desires and make up for the messes they've made?

Author-illustrator Joren Cull has crafted both a hilarious adventure and a thoughtful lesson in being mindful of how your actions affect others.

A feline's quest for a lap reaches epic - and disastrous - proportions. Cull's latest combines childlike cartoon humor with a medieval style and tone, resulting in comedic gold. Lap Cat's bardlike dialogue, presented in speech bubbles and set in a Gothic typeface, contrasts hilariously with their mundane world. Careful readers will pick up on many details in the colorful illustrations, though these can be easy to miss given the breezy pace. In a brilliant metafictional moment, an advance copy of the book appears in the joke store Lap Cat enters. A rousing, rib-tickling tale.
