LA VÉRITÉ SUR LE SUCRE

André Marette

The Truth About Sugar

An unbiased overview of the many threats associated with an ubiquitous food.
When it was still a rare resource, sugar was used sparingly. However, over the last few decades, it went from a precious condiment to a diet staple. What impact did this change have on our health? Is sugar the main culprit of the current obesity and diabetes epidemic, the “poison” condemned by some or, on the contrary, the harmless substance promoted by the food industry? Should we favour natural sugars such as honey and maple syrup? Are artificial sweeteners a healthy alternative? Presented in a clear and accessible way, this essential book presents the viewpoint of a senior scientist whose goal is not to condemn or absolve sugar, but to offer the most accurate summary of the current scientific evidence.
