LA VERITÀ E LA BIRO

Tiziano Scarpa

A book like no other: novel, confession, essay, memoir, meditation and a look at an age that wants to turn people into exhibitionists and gladiators.
Tiziano Scarpa will never forget the philosophy student who told him all of her heartbreaks while she was in bed with him. It is rare to find an honest person and candour is a funny thing. Yet it just keeps chasing us: we have it written on our skin, as indelible and spontaneous as biro pen on a notebook. The writer reflects on moments of truth in his life, as he wants to fight back against a time that wants to turn every into exhibitionists and social gladiators. This is a book for those who are hungry for truth but suffer from our times diseases: hypocrisy and closed-mindedness. Tiziano Scarpa was born in Venice in 1963. His works are translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic, Turkish, Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and other languages. He is an exaordinarily eclectic artist: besides being a novelist and a poet, he is also the author of radio programs, theatre texts, librettos for operas, musical texts and even comic books (as for Frigidaire). He is also a co-founder of the collective blog Nazione Indiana (2002) and the magazine-site Il primo amore (2005). His publications with Einaudi include Stabat Mater (2018, winner of Strega Prize), La Penultima Magia (2020), Il Cipiglio del Gufo (2018), Corpo (2004). He also published Venezia è un Pesce (2020).
