The Climate Book

Esther Gonstalla

Everything you need to know in 50 graphics

Everything you ever wanted to know about climate

Increasing drought and heat in some places and more and more frequent monsoons in others: climate change is a highly complex phenomenon and it doesn’t get easier if people ignore facts, spreading a feeling of insecurity. Education and elucidation are vital and ‘Das Klimabuch’, with its 50 descriptive graphics, does exactly that. With the support of numerous scientists, Esther Gonstalla was able to transform complex relationships and scientific data into easy-to-understand information in the form of different graphics. The book deals with fundamental questions concerning climatic processes, reflects on the impact of humans such as through coal-fired power plants, deforestation as well as conventional agriculture and proceeds to demonstrate the current as well as future consequences of global warming. However, ‘Das Klimabuch’ is not limited to the illustration of the climate crisis and its repercussions but also proposes various solutions, from political to every-day action.

Esther Gonstalla’s goal: visualizing complex themes so that they become universally comprehendible. She manages to fully realise this objective in her books in an impressive way. Always at the focal point: environmental protection. Her book ‘Ozeanbuch’ was published in 2017 by Oekom verlag; further projects are in progress.
