JUNK GYPSY
Designing A Life at the Crossroads of Wander & Wonder
From sisters Amie and Jolie Sikes, the stars of the Junk Gypsies HGTV and Great American Country TV shows, comes a bohemian lifestyle and design book that joins together the beautifully chaotic combination of free-spirited fun, funky vintage pieces, flea market finds, and natural country living.
Amie and Jolie Sikes, along with their mom, are the Junk Gypsies, a family with an addiction to flea markets, wanderlust, all things Texas, and a flair for design. They have a sensibility that mixes a little bit of hippie, a little bit of rock n’ roll, a little bit of southern-fried charm, and a plenty of dreaming big. In the Junk Gypsy world cowgirls are heroes, rockstars are gods, roadtrips last forever, and junk is treasured.
The sisters began with a little bit of faith and a whole lotta heart and soul, traveling the back roads of America like gypsies collecting roadside treasures and tattered grandeur, meeting kindred spirits and storybook characters along the way. The JUNK GYPSY book traces the sisters' remarkable journey from small-town Texas girls to restless wanderers, and, ultimately, the owners and operators of their dream business and bohemian brand. Junk Gypsy style is comfortable, functional and beautiful. Filled with DIY projects, design made for real living, junk-to-treasure how-tos, breaks for family time, and Southern authenticity, JUNK GYPSY is a tribute to all raucous and rowdy gypsies, junkers, romantics, and true-blue rebels.
Author Bios
Born and raised in small-town Texas, Jolie and Amie Sikes graduated Texas A&M but soon realized the 9-to-5 life was not for them. With only $2000 and an old pick-up truck, the Sikes sisters went on to launch the wildly successful Junk Gypsy brand and become the stars of the hit HGTV and Great American Country TV show Junk Gypsies, now in its third season. They have been featured in countless newspapers, magazines, and television shows, including The Today Show, Country Living, People Country, Southern Living, The Houston Chronicle, and more. In addition to curating and designing everything from clothing to housewares for their flagship store in Round Top, TX (population: 90) and online store, the sisters design a line for Pottery Barn Teen. This is their first book.
