JULIA'S CHILD
JULIA'S CHILD is the perfect book for every woman who has ever stood in Whole Foods clutching a $5 box of organic crackers, wondering if buying them makes her a hero or a sucker.
The protagonist, Julia Bailey, is an overextended mother with too many principles and too little time. Her fledgling company, Julia's Child, makes organic toddler meals for mothers too busy to cook, but as her business takes off, Julia finds herself too tight on time to cook meals for her own kids. Her freezer is melting down, her funding is drying up, and her husband is threatening to stray. But when a lucky celebrity endorsement leads to a call from a major distributor, Julia gets one more chance at a big break before her family reaches the breaking point. The author, Sarah Pinneo, earned an economics degree at Yale and clocked a decade of deal making on Wall Street, but when her second child was born, she set aside deal making for dinner making, and moved her growing family out to Hanover, New Hampshire. She became a successful freelancer, writing about food, parenthood and business, and in 2007, she published her first cookbook, THE SKI HOUSE COOKBOOK, with Clarkson Potter.
