JACKIE'S GIRL

Kathy McKeon

My Life with the Kennedy Family

An inside-Camelot and coming-of-age memoir that is a young woman's version of Mrs. Kennedy and Me.
In 1964, Kathy McKeon was just 20 years old and newly arrived from Ireland when she was hired as former first lady Jackie Kennedy's personal
assistant. She ended up remaining in Jackie's service for thirteen years, playing a crucial role in raising young Caroline and John Jr, with a front-row seat to some of the 20th century's most significant events.

Always at Jackie's right hand side, Rose Kennedy took to calling Kathy "Jackie's girl." Kathy called Jackie "Madam", but describes Jackie Kennedy more like a big sister. A farmer's daughter from Ireland, she learned etiquette and manners from Jackie, and helped raise her children after the tragic loss of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. Kathy was there during Jackie and Aristotle Onassis's courtship and marriage and Robert Kennedy's assassination, observing Jackie and the children during these tumultuous times in history.

Jackie's Girl will appeal to the legions of enduring fans of the Kennedy family, as well as to those interested in drawing back the curtain on the
mystique of Camelot to glimpse Jackie's private, quiet, inner world, from the unique perspective of one of the people at her side for over a decade.

And the story of a young girl coming to America, working for America's "royal family," finding love on her own, and being mentored by a glamorous woman, will appeal to women young and old.

The fourth of eight children, Kathy McKeon grew up in Ireland and came to America in 1964 when she was nineteen. She was then hired as Jackie Kennedy’s assistant and occasional nanny to her children from 1964 to 1976. She is now a mother of three and a grandmother and lives in Florida.
