Long before there was Romeo and Juliet, there was Kol and Mya....

Kol's people have hunted mammoths at the foot of the Great Ice for generations, but change is coming fast. Herds are dwindling, and there are no girls of marrying age within the clan. Without wives for seventeen year old Kol and his younger brothers, the clan will not survive. So when Mya and her family arrive from the south in an ornately carved canoe, many believe they've been sent by the Divine to deliver the clan from its threats. Independent and bold, Mya should be the perfect match for Kol. Yet nothing is as simple as it seems. While hunting together, something private transpires between Kol and Mya – a fleeting exchange that cannot be taken back – and hopes for their union are all but destroyed. Even when Kol eliminates a dangerous threat to Mya's camp, he doesn't dare dream that her cool disdain for him will ever thaw. But then another clan arrives on the shores of Kol's camp. When Kol befriends Lo, a daughter of this new clan, a dark history comes to light. Violence erupts, and Kol's people are pulled into a fight that is not their own. Faced with shattering losses, Kol is forced to doubt every decision he's made and question every person he's trusted. Should he trust Mya now, and fight beside her to save both their clans? Or should he trust Lo, who swears that Mya and her people will bring ruin to them all?
