IL LIBRO DELLA PIOGGIA

Martino Gozzi

A short, beautiful and heartfelt literary novel about a friendship held together by music and youth, set on the roads of Emilia
Martino and Simone: their friendship is held together by music and youth. Their story is told through a "mixtape" of memorable moments. A friendship that winds its way through the cornfields of Emilia, on the roads crossed at night coming home from concerts, a bond that survives distance, new experiences, time. Simone is a left-handed bass player, like Paul McCartney, he plays in a band, he writes music. He has a gift: he knows how to love and is beloved. But he leaves too soon. Martino, the voice of this novel-mémoir, recounts the slow, heroic goodbye of a special young man and the trail he left behind. Simone is the touchstone, the reference point, the irreplaceable meter against which to measure with the calm pace of maturity the stages of his life: Ferrara, Turin, writing, marriage, fatherhood, music, and changes. Martino Gozzi was born in Ferrara in 1981. In 2004 he published his first novel, Una volta Mia, with peQuod. With Feltrinelli he published Giovani promesse (2009) and Mille volte mi ha portato sulle spalle (2013). He is also a translator and works at the Scuola Holden in Turin.
