The authors are the creators of the website Husbands That Cook (www.husbandsthatcook.com), which was a finalist for the 2016 Saveur Magazine's Readers' Choice Best How-To Food Blog. Ryan Alvarez and Adam Merrin are the husbands, married to each other, and cooking in a tiny kitchen in a house on a hill in Los Angeles. Ryan grew up in the kitchen cooking with his mom and grandmother, while Adam was more of a self-described "spoon-licker" until he and Ryan began dating, and Ryan taught him to cook. They launched their website just last year, and already have a devoted and growing fan-base (1500 new followers in the past week alone). They’re also working with a business manager to enter into strategic partnerships, like the one they have in place with West Elm, whereby they're developing seasonal recipes for each week of the month of October to be featured on West Elm's social media sites. Williams-Sonoma, Crate & Barrell, and the feedfeed regularly feature the Husbands' recipes. This past weekend, Whole Foods reposted one of their recipes and received nearly 12k likes. But the Husbands, as I call them, are much more than social media numbers.

Ryan and Adam have created a truly inspired list of over 125 inventive vegetarian dishes, including everything from decadent desserts to entrees from "around the world" to drinks and breakfasts. The endeavor is really a labor of love for them, and their love for each other, for cooking, and for their readers shines through in every recipe, in the stunning photography that accompanies each recipe, and especially in the "relationship recipes," inspired by events in their life together, like the "Communication Breakdown Carrot Cake" and "Love Potion #10" cocktail, that are included in the proposal.
