HOW TO GROW UP
HOW TO GROW UP is a road map for younf women between 20 and 30. Daisy Buchanan wants to give these millennials guidance and giggles to help them negotiate the best path possible through their twenties. There is a rapidly growing group of women in their twenties who are desperate for advice, humour and insight, who want a ‘Zoella for grown ups’ - HOW TO GROW UP will occupy that space.
HOW TO GROW UP is a road map for millennials. I want to give them guidance and giggles to help them negotiate the best path possible through their twen-ties. It’s India Knight’s wise life guide In Your Prime for the smartphone set, or perhaps a new version of Nancy Mitford’s Noblesse Oblige for those of us that are a little more Made In Chelsea than Mitford. As the Youtubers have shown us, people in their twenties are adept at giving and getting advice from their peers. YouTube vlogging sensation Zoella has over seven million online followers and an incredibly successful debut book, Girl Online. Zoella’s fans look to her for life advice on relationships, friendship and life, and are predominantly young teens. I believe there is a rapidly growing group of women in their twenties who are desperate for advice, humour and insight, who want a ‘Zoella for grown ups’ - and I believe HOW TO GROW UP would occupy that space.
The audience for How To Grow Up overlaps with Zoella’s Girl Online (the fastest selling book of 2014), and Caitlin Moran’s multi million selling How To Be A Woman. The readers will read The Debrief (over 1 million unique visitors a month) and be highly engaged with Twitter, Instagram and social media. The audience is also similar to the audience of YouTube vlogger Grace Helbig, who has over 2.6 million subscribers.
Daisy is Grazia UK’s resident agony aunt, starting her column Dear Daisy in Octo-ber and sharing her wisdom with Grazia’s 120,000 readers. She has been writing about twentysomething TV favourite Made In Chelsea for four years, with loyal readers following her from Sabotage Times to the Mirror to Bauer’s big 2014 launch The Debrief, racking up over a million page views along the way. Daisy is a frequent fixture in the Guardian’s ‘most read’ section, covering everything from trying out masturbation apps to hiring a hugging tutor. She’s a Telegraph Wom-en columnist, and writes regularly for titles including The Daily Mail, Esquire, Glamour, Look, Marie Claire, Stylist, The Pool and The Sunday Times.
Daisy was named in MHCP’s 30 To Watch list in 2015, and won the title Dating Writer Of The Year at the 2015 UK Dating Awards. Her internet dating book Meeting Your Match was published by Carlton in January 2015, and her first book, The Wickedly Unofficial Guide To Made In Chelsea was published as an ebook by Sphere in Autumn 2013. She’s a regular broadcast contributor, appear-ing on The Today Show, Woman’s Hour, Last Word, BBC London, 5 Live Break-fast, London Live and This Morning.
