HONORA HAGERTY'S HALFWAY HOUSE FOR HAUNTS

Hannah Kates

The only thing worse than being dead is being half-dead. And when twelve-year-old Gwinnett Rooke is accidentally flattened by a tourist trolley on the moss-draped streets of Savannah, Georgia, she finds herself in a ghastly predicament: She's not alive, but she's not quite dead, either. Caught somewhere between this life and the next, she takes on an apprenticeship with the local witch, Honora Haggerty.

But Honora's not just any witch. She also serves as Savannah's resident psychopompa magical guide tasked with helping the spirits of the city navigate their way through the afterlife. It's all fun and games when it comes to reliving Revolutionary battles and placating long-dead divas, but when a shadowy corporation begins threatening Savannah's most historical (and haunted) landmarks, ghosts start disappearing, and a string of suspicious deaths strikes the city. Gwinnett knows that an untimely end can be upsetting, but could this really be the work of a sinister specter?

Gwinnett will have to call on all her phantasmal friends to help solve the mystery before whoeveror whateveris responsible ensures she's totally post-mortem.
