This novel opens a new world planted in the rich soild of early 19th Century German Romanticism, twins an origin legend of the famous Nutcracker and the life of Drosselmeier, the toymaker who carves him. There are other mentions of recognizable Grimm Tales but this really is a the story of who became Drosselmeier. It’s a somber, darkish tone with wonderous imaginative elements.
