HAROLD SNIPPERPOT'S BEST DISASTER EVER
The highly anticipated follow up to On a Magical Do-Nothing Day from knockout author/illustrator Beatrice Alemagna. Seven-year-old Harold Snipperpot tells the story of his extraordinarily chaotic and ultimately miraculous first real birthday party ever.
Harold Snipperpot never had a birthday party because his parents are cranky and sort of distant. But approaching his lucky seventh birthday, his mom and dad do notice that Harold is unbearably sad. Then Mom has an idea. She calls the neighborhood fixer-upper, Mr. Ponzio, and asks if he can make her son a party. Mr. Ponzio assures the family that Harold's birthday will be nothing less than extraordinary.
On his birthday, Harold opens the door and finds a line of animals that stretch all the way down the block! At first, an animal party seems to be kind of fun. That is . . . until the animals start acting like animals! A polar bear has clawed their velvet sofa, a hippo found her way into the bathroom and is soaking, and soon the house is buried underneath a carpet of animal poo. Pee-ew! This party is too much. Harold takes charge, and soon both parents, Mr. Ponzio, and the raucous animals make their way to a big fountain at the park, making it the best birthday party ever.
With startling bright, dazzling illustrations, bits of magic, a fantastic fold-out page, and an oh-so tender ending, Harold Snipperpot's Best Disaster Ever is a party like no one has ever seen.
Beatrice Alemagna was born in Bologna, Italy, in 1973. When she was a child her biggest heroes were Pippi Longstocking, Marcovaldo, Karlsson on the roof, Silvester, and Meffi. At eight years old she knew she would become a painter and a writer. Since then she has published more than thirty books all over the world from France and Italy to Japan and the United States. Her first book with Harper, On A Magical Do-Nothing Day was selected as one of the Best Illustrated Books by The New York Times and won the first-place gold medal at the Society of Illustrators' 2017 Original Art Show. Some of her other books available in the United States include A Lion in Paris, and The Wonderful Fluffy Little Squishy, which won the 2016 Mildred L. Batchelder Award for a translated work. Beatrice makes her home in Paris, where she lives with her husband and two daughters.
