GUYS READ: THE SPORTS PAGES

Jon Scieszka

The hottest new anthology series for tween guys keeps rolling with ten new tales about (what else?) SPORTS.
For the third installment, we have turned to another perennially popular genre: sports. And the contributor list promised to be another who’s-who of great writers for guys, containing action-packed pieces, both fiction and nonfiction, from kids writers as well as a sports broadcaster and pro athlete. Tim Green, Dan Gutman, Gordon Korman, Joe Bruchac, Jackie Woodson, Anne Ursu, and Chris Rylander are our children’s talent signed up so far, and they will be covering baseball, basketball, football, ice hockey, mixed martial arts, and track and field. Jon Scieszka is the author of some of the best known and funniest books for children, including The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, the Time Warp Trio chapter book series, the Caldecott Honor Book The Stinky Cheese Man and Other Fairly Stupid Tales and the Trucktown series. Most recently, he has written Robot Zot, illustrated by Dave Shannon, and begun work on the new middle grade series Spaceheadz. In 2007, Jon was named the first National Ambassador for Children’s Literature by the Library of Congress. He grew up with five brothers in Flint, Michigan, and now lives with his family in Brooklyn, New York.
