GODKILLER

Hannah Kaner

The first in a planned trilogy of epic fantasy novels by debut writer Hannah Kaner. In a world where the gods have been outlawed, a godkiller finds herself caught up in a conspiracy against the King, and is forced to save the life of a young girl and the god who has bound himself to her.
Kissen's family were killed by zealots of a fire god - but, in a twist of fate, she was saved by another god, leaving her with conflicted loyalties and a taste for revenge. Now, she makes a living killing gods, and enjoys it. That is, until she finds a god she cannot kill: Skedi, a god of white lies, has somehow bound himself to a young noble, and they are both on the run from unknown assassins.

Meanwhile, Elogast lives a very different life from when he was Knight Commander, a man who fought bravely against the gods when his King tried to rid them from the land. When he is summoned by his King for a secret mission it sends him on a collision course with Kissen and her charges.

The four of them must travel to the ruined city of Blenraden, where the last of the wild gods reside, to each beg a favour. Pursued by demons, and in the midst of burgeoning civil war, they will all face a reckoning - something is rotting at the heart of Blenraden, and only they can be the ones to stop it.

Hannah is a Northumbrian writer living in Scotland. She works as a senior digital consultant in Edinburgh, delivering digital health care, tools and services for the public sector. She has a first class degree in English from Pembroke College, Cambridge, and a Masters of Science with distinction from the University of Edinburgh. She is inspired by world mythologies, angry women, speculative fiction, and the stories we tell ourselves about being human.
