GLI SBAFATORI

Camilla Baresani

The story of a generation that tries to gate-crash the collective banquet. And eat for free.
Rosa is young foodblogger, she’s good fun and clumsy. Guidobaldo is a mature and conceited food critic. And both live above their means.
One day they meet at a champagne vertical tasting and in the suite of a Venetian grand hotel passion flares between them – a passion grounded on lies and rivalry. Travel, dinners, holidays – it’s a life dreams are made of. Until...

A story of love and sex set against the background of the world of food. The picture that emerges of journalists, PRs chefs, gourmets, with their splendours, falsities, and perversions, is derisive and hardly glittering. The author adds at the end of the book the protagonist’s irresistible (existentialist) recipes.

Like a little modern Balzac, over the last few years Camilla Baresani has been castigating contemporary food habits. Always smiling but with the ferocity of a Seventeenth-century moralist.
