Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering

Reinhard Scholz

Introduction to Direct and Alternate Current Technology

What does electricity look like? Electricity made easy! Electrical technology plays an important role in almost all fields of engineering sciences. This textbook teaches the fundamentals that are essential for many graduate programs. After studying this volume the reader will be in a position to analyze and calculate elec-tric circuits.

The text first touches on the physical fundamentals; next it focuses on the technical aspects from the point of view of the user. Primarily it analyzes passive electronic circuits using modern computer based methods. Using wiring diagrams, the reader will get an introduction of electric networks and their mathematical description based on the Kirchhoff Rules and Ohm’s Law. Alternate current technology is the main emphasis; whereas direct current technology is considered a special case of alternate current technology. The math program “Octave” is used for calculating the examples and exercises.
