Final Witness

Wang Hongjia

The novel Final Witness portrays the life of Song Ci, a forensic scientist renowned for his uprightness and conscientious work during the Southern Song Dynasty. The hero of the story, devotes his whole life to “righting wrongs”. We can learn a lot from him: what is difficult is not legislating, but the exercising of law; what is needed in righting wrongs is not only detective skills, but more importantly, morality and conscience; and what is important is not to depend on a few upright officials, but to constitute and improve the legal system.
