FIFTEEN PATHS

David Weitzner

How to Tune Out Noise, Turn On Imagination and Find Wisdom

Fifteen prescriptions for imaginative living in today's noisy and ever-narrowing world.

Surrounded by noise and trapped in social media bubbles, our social conversation has gone awry. In a world where meaningful conversations across political, ideological, economic, and religious divides are becoming increasingly difficult, we as a society need to rethink what it means to listen.

FIFTEEN PATHS follows disillusioned business professor David Weitzner's quest to transcend the noise by prioritizing imaginative expressions over argumentative ones. With this in mind, Weitzner spoke to fourteen iconoclastic artists about how to rethink listening and open ourselves up to discourse. From eating at a table instead of a work desk, counter, or in transit, to laughing at yourself and everything that seems important, the artists offered insightful action plans on how our society might foster a better, more communicative social space.

Featuring in-depth and expressive conversations with artists including Nels Cline (Wilco), Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth), Jeff Coffin (Dave Matthews Band), and Angelo Moore (Fishbone), FIFTEEN PATHS offers fifteen concrete courses of action that encourage us to be socially and democratically engaged citizens.

David Weitzner (PhD, MBA) is a professor of strategy.
