FAUJA SINGH KEEPS GOING

Simran Jeet Singh Baljinder Kaur

The True Story of the Oldest Person to Ever Run a Marathon

The inspiring true story of Fauja Singh, who broke world records to become the first one hundred-year-old to run a marathon, shares valuable lessons on the source of his grit, determination to overcome obstacles, and commitment to positive representation of the Sikh community.
Fauja Singh was born with legs that couldn't carry him to school miles away from his village in Punjab, India or allow him to play cricket with the other kids. But that didn't stop him. Working on his family's farm, Fauja grew stronger and more determined.

Every step of the way, he pushed himself.

And then at the age of eighty-one, he decided he was not done striving. After moving to England and seeing people running...for the sheer joy of it, Fauja himself began to train. His steps became quicker and his legs became more powerful, taking him to marathons in London, Toronto, and New York where he broke numerous world records, including one for being the oldest person to complete a marathon.

With inspiring text by activist and educator Simran Jeet Singh, and exhilarating illustrations by artist Baljinder Kaur, FAUJA SINGH KEEPS GOING reminds us that it's both where we start and how we finish that make our stories unforgettable.
