FADING MOONLIGHT

Brendan Brown

FADING MOONLIGHT provides readers with a fascinating delve into the overlooked people who worked to achieve space flight.
The moon landing of 1969 stands as an iconic moment for both the United States and human kind. The familiar story focuses on the astronauts and NASA's mission control leaders. But nearly 50 years after the achievement, the men and women who toiled behind the lights are entering their later years, with many of their stories unheard. We stand at a critical moment for assessing the Apollo project while we can still speak with those who made it happen. As their generation passes, we risk losing not only their wisdom, but also many insights of their work and lives.
The book seeks a fresh approach to the Apollo success, informed by these voices, with an emphasis on Apollo's process, meaning and impact.

Brandon is a physicist and critically acclaimed author who teaches at the University of San Francisco. Born just months before
the first manned moon landing, Brown is the son of a key NASA engineer and he has conducted interviews with an assortment of Apollo personnel, many of whom have never spoken on the record.
