EVERYONE SAYS THAT AT THE END OF THE WORLD
In his second novel, Owen Egerton explores the strange characters on this earth and the catastrophic events leading to the planet's end. His imaginative, playful take on the absurd and the apocalyptic has been compared to Christopher Moore and Kurt Vonnegut.
Earth is the mental asylum of the universe and humans are the incurable inmates. Now the asylum is being shut down. Milton Post, slacker and former Christian rock star, has learned a secret—in four days the world will end. Now he and his pregnant girlfriend must struggle through herds of nutria, boulder-sized hail, and inter-dimensional time travelers as they discover the truth behind life on Earth. Meanwhile an outrageously arrogant television actor hits the highway seeking redemption, and a prophetic hermit crab begins a cross-country quest. Jesus clones, quantum physics, and prosthetic limbs all play a role in the catastrophic events leading to the planet’s end. Combining humor, philosophical inquiry and unforgettable characters, Egerton leads us through the most bizarre apocalypse ever put to paper. Owen Egerton was the artistic director of Austin’s National Comedy Theatre. He’s written screenplays for Fox, Warner Brothers and Disney studios. He is also the author of the one-man play The Other Side of Sleep and the novel The Book of Harold, which is currently in development as a television series with Warner Bros. Television. He lives in Austin, Texas.
