Every Day is Extra is John Kerry's very personal and candid story. The title comes from a saying he and his buddies had in Vietnam to make every day memorable and important because you didn't know if it was your last.

The book itself covers his privileged childhood where his family and grandparents lived in France, England and traveled around Europe. He also discusses his distinguished service in the Vietnam war (where he was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts), and his service as Secretary of State under Obama. He reveals the inside negotiations with the Iran nuclear deal and the Paris climate accord. Also his dealings with regard to the Syrian civil war and the response to ISIS.

John Kerry has been at or near the center of important events throughout his life but this is not a politician's book. This is a heartfelt account of a life of service where he was and is determined to make a difference in the world - whether fighting in Vietnam, in the Senate, or as Secretary of State. Humble and brutally honest, John Kerry emerges as a man who deeply cares about the environment, human rights, global stability, and most importantly, peace. He's not afraid to criticize the current president and speaks out passionately which is what he will do in the book.
