She’s got all the concerns of a typical teenager: school, fashion, friends, but she’s armed with strong values and ideals. She: …loves music, and how a lyric can melt your heart …can’t get through a day without her BFFs …writes poetry she shows nobody, but secretly dreams the world will discover …and has a huge crush – along with millions of other girls – on a pop star she’s never met Emma gets a once-in-a-lifetime chance to fly to the Bahamas to see Boyz3000 in concert. But she’s got to earn money for her plane ticket. And she only has nine days to do it! Surrounded by her BFFs, her 16-year-old boy-crazy cousin Elyse, and taunted by eighth-grade “hater” Renee, Emma tries to make her dreams come true as she navigates middle-school with trepidation, determination, and a lot of spunk! A gentle depiction of young love…Emma’s contagious enthusiasm amplifies this wholesome fan letter for younger readers. Emma’s efforts to achieve her goal teaches her valuable lessons about perseverance, honesty, and the cost of doing business. Meanwhile teenage angst runs high. It’s refreshing to see a heroine with such a close-knit family.
