ELS MURS INVISIBLES

Ramon Mas

«I can't respond. I notice somebody's got their arms around me, and unceremoniously I shake them off. Suddenly, all these people who five minutes ago I considered my friends seem like strangers. They don't know where I come from or the world I belong to.»
On the night of March 12th, 2004, sitting in a bar in Barcelona with his friends from the Philosophy department, Ramon receives a message that nobody would wish to receive. With it begins a race against the inevitable. With its autobiographical edge, this book is simultaneously the chronicle of a death foretold, a story about entering adulthood and a hymn to friendship. It is also a homage to a world that springs up on the margins and to relationships forged outside the prevailing conventions in a city as conservative as Vic. Precise and delicate, movingly full of held-back emotion, Els murs invisibles, in short, recounts an episode that will leave an indelible mark on its protagonist's life. Ramon Mas is a Catalan writer, musician and publisher, co-founder of the magazine and publishing house Males Herbes. He is the author of the book of poems Òsties (AdiA edicions, 2017) and a collection of stories and articles scattered among fanzines, magazines and anthologies. He teaches the seminar "Clàssics fora del cànon" (on non-realist Catalan literature) at Escola Bloom, and has made the selection and the foreword of the book Savis, bojos i difunts. His most recent work is the striking Els murs invisibles (L'Altra, 2024).
