EAST OF BROADWAY
East of Broadway is a collection of essays, focusing on the impact of gentrificationthe passionately debated urban narrative in contemporary America. Raquel Cepeda examines the issue in all its facets, telling the story of the gentrification of Inwood, a Dominican neighborhood in Manhattan through the individual stories of those affected by the phenomenon: longtime residents who have been displaced, the new arrivals to the neighborhood who have benefitted from it, and those, like Cepeda herself, who are caught in the middle, struggling to navigate its inherent tensions.
