DUDEFOOD

Dan Churchill

DUDEFOOD will showcase Churchill’s combined passions for health and cooking, and even includes some simple entertaining tips for beginners. It will be the ideal guide for guys who have always wanted to cook but don’t know where to start; boyfriends who are intimated by a frying pan; and sons who have too long relied on their mothers for home-cooked meals. The mouth-watering recipes span from breakfast to dessert, pre-workout snacks to hangover cures, and are easy to read and difficult to mess up—though he does recommend his readers to get comfortable with making mistakes.
Churchill is a rising star in many arenas: a widely-acclaimed cook, a certified physical trainer, and a dynamic new voice on health and fitness issues. In 2013, at the age of 23, he gained international attention and legions of fans when he appeared on MasterChef Australia, which aired in over 90 countries. His recipes have since been featured in publications like Men’s Health, Women’s Fitness, and on websites like PopSugar and Lululemon’s blog. Churchill has a bachelor’s degree in Sport and Exercise Management, and a master’s in Exercise Science (Strength & Conditioning). He speaks on a number of food and health-related topics and consults for athletes and sports teams worldwide to help optimize their performance through nutrition.

Churchill began cooking weekly dinners for his family as a pre-teen, and soon noticed how rare it was for a guy his age to be found in the kitchen. He said, “My mates began realizing how much their girlfriends and moms loved the fact that I could cook. They asked for my help. So while I did not have experience in some of the world’s best-known restaurants, I had first-hand experience cooking simple, healthy, delicious, and fun meals for the people I loved. I wanted to teach other young men to do the same.”

He compiled his favorite recipes and anecdotes on food and fitness and self-published his first cookbook at age 19, largely to help empower his own friends. He was amazed at the reaction it got far beyond that group. The book gained nationwide media attention in Australia, and was sold out within weeks.

Churchill’s easygoing attitude and accessible advice will encourage even the most skeptical guys to don an apron and fire up the stovetop for the first time. DUDEFOOD will be followed by a second cookbook in 2016.
