DRAWN TOGETHER
A Dharma Comics Collection on the Curious Journey Through Life and Love
From the creator of the popular web series Dharma Comics, an irresistibly clever and uplifting illustrated collection that will delight anyone looking to be a little more inspired.
When Leah Pearlman found out her father had terminal cancer, the young technologist realized her life was running on autopilot and she was miserable. So she quit her high-powered job at Facebook and started drawing doodles as a way of coping and rediscovering her passion for life.
Over 500 drawings later, Dharma Comics has grown into a popular online brand of inspirational comics with more than 50,000 fans. Drawn Together, the first Dharma Comics collection, presents a blend of fan favorites and new, never-before-published comics to warm the hearts of readers everywhere.
Featuring over 100 two-color illustrations organized around five universal themes of everyday life, this enlightening and entertaining book reveals the surprising ways we connect with ourselves ("I tell myself the secrets I want to hear"; "Hello, my name is _______ and I am a thinkaholic"), with our aspirations and fears ("Having a choice isn't freedom...Making one is"), and with others ("Love: Ready to get messy?"). Witty, heartfelt, and profoundly wise, this is the perfect pick-me-up for anyone looking for a little inspiration, a break from the daily grind, or a tender reminder that, no matter what happens, you're never alone.
LEAH PEARLMAN is the creator and founder of Dharma Comics, a popular web comic series with a rapidly growing online audience of more than 50,000 followers. She started her career as a technologist, working for Microsoft and then Facebook. When her father was diagnosed with terminal cancer, she left Facebook to dedicate herself more fully to a path of self-awareness and discovery, and began drawing Dharma Comics as a way to document the journey. The comics have been featured in print magazines and newspapers, such as Inquiring Mind and Positive News, online publications like KarmaTube and TheDailyGood, and books, including Dan Siegel's New York Times bestseller Brainstorm. She has been interviewed on Eckhart Tolle's website, TransformativeChange.org, and others, and has spoken at various conferences, including the immensely popular Wisdom 2.0. In addition to illustrating for herself and others, she is often coaching, mentoring, investing, volunteering, traveling, and endlessly learning. She currently lives in Berkeley, CA. Drawn Together is her first book.
