DEAR GIRLS

Ali Wong

Intimate Tales, Untold Secrets, and Advice for Living Your Best Life

DEAR GIRLS: heartfelt and hilarious letters from a mother to her daughters, covering everything they may need to know in life, including the unpleasant details of dating, how to be a working mom in a male-dominated profession, and of course how she trapped their dad.
Ali Wong's first show on Netflix, Baby Cobra, which she performed in heavily pregnant with her first daughter, launched her on to the scene and her fan base has been growing exponentially ever since. Audiences loved her singular humor and raunchy observations about motherhood and feminism, and she became so popular she even became a Halloween costume. She's since been profiled in the New Yorker, interviewed by Marc Maron on his WTF podcast, and covered by New York Times, New York Magazine, Vogue, Elle, Vulture, to name a few. Wong's letters are absurdly funny, often surprisingly moving, even enlightening (and often peppered with her trademark raunchy humor).

Ali Wong is a stand-up comedian, writer, and actress this book is both her persona and her true self in parts. Wong has been a longtime writer for the American television show Fresh Off the Boat, a comedy based on chef Eddie Huang's best-selling memoir of the same name, and she's also a series regular on the sitcom American Housewife. She lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters.

She brings the same level of candid heart and humor that you love from her comedy to her new book, covering everything from growing up in San Francisco to finding comedy to having kids. [A] refreshing, hilarious, and honest account of making a career in a male-dominated field, dating, being a mom, growing up, and so much more. Yes, this book is addressed to Wong's daughters, but every reader will find a nuggets of wisdom and inspiration and, most importantly, something to laugh at.

It should come as no surprise that Ali Wong, who made us cry from laughter in her raunchy and relatable Netflix special, is as adept a writer as she is a comedian.

A collection of letters to her baby girls that are barn-burning reflections on being a working mom, marriage, sex, and more. If you've ever wanted to have Ali Wong's signature voice in your head for 200+ pages, now's your chance.

Comedian and actress Ali Wong's first book ... is everything her fans would expect: raunchy, real and uproariously funny.

Dear Girls can be crude and flippant, LOL-dense and breezy - so breezy, in fact, you will be desensitized to the grossest of Wong's gross-outs by chapter one, at which point you have already learned how to hold in a fart during yoga. But as with her stage comedy, she is also sneakily thoughtful about the public roles she occupies - Asian American, working mom, woman on comedy stages - and the come-from-behind grind they necessarily demand.
