CROSS THE TRACKS
A Memoir
From one of rap's most personal and evocative writers comes a memoir in the vein of The Autobiography of Gucci Mane.
A Rouge native who began rapping at age 14, Lil Boosie was already a cult hero in Louisiana when, in 2009, he was sentenced to two years in prison for possession of marijuana and probation violations. The next year, he was indicted on drug charges and first-degree murder, allegedly over turf. Prosecutors played Boosie's music in the courtroom in an attempt to paint him as a cold-blooded killer. However, against overwhelming odds and the backdrop of a social media campaign to #FreeBoosie, he was freed in March of 2014.
Following his release, Boosie changed his name from Lil Boosie to Boosie Badazz and began a ceaseless tear through the rap industry... only to be diagnosed with kidney cancer at age 33. Boosie documented the ordeal on his album In My Feelings (Goin' Thru It), which marries unsettling realism with undying optimism.
Boosie Badazz is more than a rapper, he's a survivor whose experience will appeal not only to fans of his music, but also those who appreciate a rags-to-riches story.
