Fifty years ago, the Fallen Star brought death and despair, ash and toxic rain. The survivors were changed. They learned to speak. To dream. To wage war. As two surviving dinosaur kingdoms battle, Eleri, a young oryctodromeus and disgraced son of a prince, is exiled from the Mountain Kingdom for saving an enemy soldier. Banished to the merciless Deadlands, he will have to join together with a group of questionable allies to stop a predatory plot to destroy both herbivore kingdoms.

Skye Melki-Wegner started writing as soon as she could hold a pen. She was immediately drawn to fantasy — and soon her notebooks overflowed with dragons, pixies, wizards and various magical shenanigans. After graduating with an honours degree in law, she decided to pursue her passion and prioritised writing fantasy books over pursuing a legal career.

Over the years, Skye has worked everywhere from a cinema (where she ate too much popcorn) to a museum (where some of her colleagues were literally dinosaurs).

Skye's YA fantasy novels include the Chasing the Valley trilogy, The Hush and the Agent Nomad books. Her first Middle Grade trilogy, Cretacea, will be published in 2023.
