COURAGE IS CONTAGIOUS is a collection of 20 never-before-published essays by public figures and celebrities, which illuminate the former First Lady’s extraordinary presence and act as a powerful reminder of grace in power.

In October of 2016, in response to Michelle Obama's now famous campaign speech—a blistering rebuke to Trump and a salvo for women’s rights and common decency—New York Times’ T Magazine published a dazzling feature called “To the First Lady with Love,” edited by Nicholas Haramis. COURAGE IS CONTAGIOUS is Haramis’ expansion of this tribute, in which he gathers together a stunning array of prize-winning writers, Hollywood stars, famous chefs, and politicos, including Cheryl Strayed, Missy Elliott, Tony Kushner, Tracee Ellis Ross, Alice Waters, Michael Pollan, Issa Rae, and Michelle Alexander—all of whom have been moved and influenced by Michelle.

The T cover story he assigned and edited on First Lady Michelle Obama, featuring contributions from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Rashida Jones, Jon Meacham and Gloria Steinem, became the basis for this anthology.
