COUNTING DOWN WITH THEODORE BROWN

Daniel Devenney

A fantastic coming-of-age novel and compelling love story with a twist.
"My Name is Theodore Brown. If I had friends, they'd probably call me Theo".

Theodore Brown has crippling social anxiety understandable, given that when he looks into people's eyes he sees a number which is the number of days until they die or disappear from his life. Aside from his online bestie Fly, his therapist is the only company he keeps.

Theodore's kept everyone at a safe distance since his dad died. But now that he's in college, he fears he's missing out. Even his stuffy English professor thinks he needs to get a life. So, to improve his mental health and sharpen his writing skills, he decides to do just that.

Enter the tidal wave that is Lil Sanchez. She may only be around for the summer, but Theo can't help but wonder if the pleasure of knowing her might be worth the pain of losing her. Only time will tell, and the clock is ticking.

Counting Down with Theodore Brown explores our basic need for connection. Theo's journey highlights the joy connection brings to our lives, and the dangers we face without it. With its darker moments deftly navigated with a light yet respectful touch this is a story about mental health, identity, friendship, sexuality, love, loss, and the impermanent nature of the human condition.
