Colonialism

Colonial rule was a prominent feature of world history between about 1500 and 1960. Using examples from all the empires of the modern era, the authors describe methods of conquest, economic exploitation, forms of resistance, the emergence of special colonial societies, varieties of cultural colonisation as well as the basic features of colonialist thought and colonial culture.
