An Introduction
Research-backed learning system for preparatory chemistr that systematically reinforces both the fundamental concepts and math skills that are prerequisites for success in general chemistry.
Recent researoh has documented that in K—12 programs over the past decade, instruction in math computation has been de-emphasized. Caiculations in Chemistry addresses these gaps in student background, applying the findings ofrecent scientific researoh on cognition, fluency in applied mathematics, and reading comprehension, to prepare students for the rigor and pace of general chemistry.
Donald J. Dahm is a professor at Rowan University. In 2004, Dr. Dahm reeeived the Outstanding Achievement in Near Infrared Spectroscopy Award from the Eastern Analytical Symposium.
Eric A. Nelson‘s career spanned work as a chemistry instruetor and as an eleeted officer and legislative representative for his faeulty organization. His professional interests include researeh on reading comprehension in the sciences and measures ofstudent mathematies achievement in preparation for study in chemistry. Prior to his retirement, he served on committees at the state and regional level working to raise academic standards and encourage the adoption ofresearch based curricula in STEM flelds.
